Discovered by Professor John Tagg at the University of Otago, K12 naturally produces bacteriocin-like inhibitory substances (BLIS) that help it colonise the mouth and crowd out less desirable bacteria — a mechanism known as bacterial interference. 

Each lozenge is paired with vitamin D, which contributes to normal immune function and supports the natural cell turnover of the oral mucosa, helping it act as an effective barrier against unwanted germs. One monthly pack (30 lozenges) delivers a minimum of 30 billion beneficial bacteria in total.
